Chandeleur Island Brewing Company is named after the 50 miles of uninhabited islands along the coast of Mississippi. The brewery is filled with passionate workers striving to maintain excellent quality and create unique beers.

Chandeleur Island Brewing Company is looking for a candidate who is passionate about craft beer and can maintain a great attitude and work ethic. Cellar Assistants are responsible for all aspects of cellar work, from yeast to final packaging, as specified by Chandeleur Islands Brewing Co. Standard Operating Procedures.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Report to Cellar Supervisor/QC and Brew Master
  • Maintain an orderly and clean work environment in the cellar and throughout entire facility
  • Monitoring fermentation and carbonation tanks.
  • Making sure beers get carbonated to desired levels
  • Take daily gravity and pH readings, evaluate fermentation processes and record all data into ekos and to your cellar supervisor.
  • Help the packaging line and taproom if need be.
  • Check Dissolved Oxygen before and after all beer additions or movements.
  • Following all standard operating procedures for all cellar movements which will include but is not limited to keg washing, tank cleaning, beer additions (Biofine, fruit, Hops), and transfers
  • Helping to maintain happy and healthy yeast during harvesting and pitching
  • Attend Cellar meetings
  • Maintain a receptive mind to continual innovation and improvements around the facility
  • Communicate any issues regarding mechanical operations, wort/beer quality, and safety to the cellar supervisor
  • Shutdown of facility processes and helping to prepare for a smooth and clean opening


  • Passion for Craft Beer!
  • Ability to work varying hours depending upon production schedule as well as every weekend
  • Ability to work at least 5+ hour shifts five days a week
  • Brewing and industry certifications preferred (i.e. Cicerone)
  • 1-2 years of job-specific experience or an equivalent level of education and experience preferred
  • Knowledge of brewing process, fermentation and cellar principles
  • Good mechanical skills
  • A full understanding of cleaning and sanitation procedures
  • A positive attitude in a demanding repetitive production environment
  • Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities while focusing on detail
  • Good time management skills
  • Strong record keeping skills, attention to detail, and communication skills
  • Ability to perform data entry and work with computers using industry specific inventory and tracking software. (i.e. Ekos)

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50-100 lbs.)
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 5-7 hours per day)
  • Constantly ducking under and around equipment
  • Climbing ladders
  • Tightening tri-clamps, gaskets and valves properly
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and noisy environments
